Features

High Motion Tolerance

• The FR80 Salmon captures EAN codes moving at 3.5 meters per second, making it perfect for experienced users at static points of sale (POS) to quickly process baskets of goods and reduce checkout queues.

Large Scan Window

• Its large scan window and small depth of field (DOF) help capture barcodes even when goods are larger or presented very close to the scan window. This is beneficial for fast-paced checkouts, as less experienced users don’t need to be precise when lining up codes for a successful read.

Comfortable Experience

• The FR80 Salmon’s short and long-range illumination and anti-glare design are perfect for customer-facing applications, such as retail self-service and POS scanning. This prevents users from being dazzled by sharp illumination and reflections. Additionally, it performs well when scanning off phone screens.

Double Reading Prevention

• The FR80 Salmon uses active sensors to differentiate between a code being presented for reading and one that is not. It can distinguish between a deliberate swipe and a code being static for longer than the natural decode timeout session, preventing accidental misreads of the same barcode twice.

Adding More Scanners

• The FR80 Salmon has an RJ connection available for adding another scanner. This is particularly useful for capturing codes on bulkier items, especially those not practical for static/conveyor POS or some self-service applications. A customer-facing POS could benefit from a dedicated scanner for loyalty codes, e-vouchers, or scan-to-pay barcodes.

Setting the Tone

• The FR80 Salmon offers a choice of audible feedback tones and volumes with two user-accessible buttons. These buttons can be deactivated as part of a custom configuration via the user manual or EasySet configuration software.

EAS Deactivation

• The FR80 Salmon features an integrated single antenna system for deactivating EAS security tags. Compatible with major single loop EAS systems, including Checkpoint, the antenna is placed near the scan window for easy use.
